Brought Plenty Mission
Mission of Dora Brought Plenty
-in honor of the children that never made it home from the Indian Boarding Schools.
1. Spread awareness of the thousands of Indigenous children that
were murdered, died of illness, were horribly abused, stripped of
family and culture and forced to assimilate through the government
and church sponsored system of terror.
2. Continue to work to pressure the American Indian Boarding School sites to
allow for the use of ground penetrating radar to find hidden and unmarked
grave sites of residential school children that never made it home.
3. Share my first hand accounts of my experience and survival in the Indian
Boarding School system so that this recent American history is not forgotten,
white washed or labeled as critical race theory.
4. Call awareness to the "sixties scoop" and how it robbed over 20,000 native children from their lineage and birth rite in North America.
5. Welcome people to embrace their Indian ancestry regardless of whether or not they have the records to prove quantum, understanding that the break in lineage is a direct result of the "sixties scoop" and other historical government backed tactics to divide us from each other.
6. Use my art to continue to heal from the trauma of Indian Boarding School and share
my passion and creativity with others. Also to encourage others to use their art to
create a better world for ourselves and our children.
I encourage anyone reading this statement to find it within yourself to remember that it is about the children and the abuse and our ancestors who did not get to come home.
